Mission Statement

The Camron-Stanford House Preservation Association was formed specifically to preserve, restore, maintain, and utilize the property for the public as an historical and educational example of the architecture and lifestyle of the Victorian era of California, and to engage in activities related thereto.

Vision Statement

By 2025, the Camron-Stanford House Preservation Association’s vision is to recreate an accurate and complete historic structure and surrounding environment, consistent with the late nineteenth-century Lake Merritt milieu, to provide a cultural focus for the entire community. To accomplish this, we will:

Complete the restoration of the house and reconstruction of the carriage house and boathouse, the restoration of the landscape on the west (front) and north sides of the House, and the installation of an interpretive garden i.e., typical in Lake Merritt shoreline during the 1880's;

Increase significantly the membership roll, both to increase income and to encourage participation by a broader representation of citizens and community groups;

Expand educational and outreach programs to develop more appreciation for the historical significance of the property; and

Sponsor events and in other ways encourage participation in programs and appreciation of the Camron-Stanford House by peoples of the many different cultures in Oakland.
